Reasons To Play Golf

1. Have Fun

Whether you enjoy competing or enjoy the company of family and friends, golf is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise and spend quality time with your family. By learning the basic rules and etiquettes and learning how to maintain a good pace of play you will be good enough to play with anyone. After all, it’s not how good you are but how much fun you have that counts.

2. Make new friends

New to the area? If you have just moved to the Northern Neck, golf is a great way to make new friends. Quinton Oaks has many activities to make it easy to make new friends. We have Ladies Day on Wednesday mornings and Senior Men’s Day on Tuesday mornings. Just learning; Thursday’s mixed Scramble event may be the answer. The scramble format will take the pressure off of the beginning golfer and it is a lot of fun.

3. Quality time with family

What better way to spend four hours with your family than on the golf course. Whether it is time with your teenager or a family member you only see once or twice a year, you will develop memories that you will talk about for years.

4. Enjoy the Outdoors

Green grass, trees and blue water combined with wildlife is a great atmosphere to spend 4 hours playing golf. Every day is different and every golf course is different. It is also fun to play in different parts of the country or even the world and enjoy the different sceneries.

5. Exercise

Many non-golfers do not view golf is exercise but golf uses the entire body. Some benefits from golf as an exercise include improved circulation to improved flexibility. Arthritis can be helped because golf loosens stiff joints. Golfers also experience better sleep, increased strength, eye-hand coordination and range of motion. Golf is also good for weight control. AND Golfers do live longer.

6. Competition

There are many ways to compete. You can compete with yourself, the course, your friends or family. You can also compete in tournaments. Fun tournaments such as charity or club events or in more competitive tournaments such as Club Championships or even Statewide events. You don’t even have to compete at all.
